Curlew

Walking along Swansea Beach late this afternoon, I spotted this Curlew feeding quite close to shore. By hiding behind a groyne, and placing my camera on a beanbag on top of it, I was able to get a few reasonable shots:

Then, the obligatory thoughtless idiot with a dog appeared, and the Curlew was off!

  1. Bloody dog walkers, he was probably out looking for his mud hut. Stunning photos though Jeremy.

  2. Yes, and he was probably from the Gurnos as well. On second thoughts, probably not, as the dog wasn't a pit-bull!

  4. Magnificent Curlew photographs, Jeremy. The quality of the Gower light is stunning. The bean-bag sounds a great idea (though one more bit of kit to carry, I guess!).

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me about the Ring-billed Gull. I have now added a link. I keep meaning to try to get to grips with the gull family. I wonder if most people find them particularly hard to sort out ...
