Painted Lady Butterfly

Filmed on August 4th this year, this was the first, and one of only three (so far), of this migrant species that I've seen this year:

Carrion Crow

As any bird-lover will know, crows must be among the most intelligent of birds. My local crows clearly remember me from feeding them in the past; and, even if they haven't seen me for several weeks, fly straight down to me whenever I walk past, obviously seeing me as a good source of food. I usually manage to find a few crumbs to spare for them, and on this occasion one came close enough for me to film it:

A Ringlet butterfly filmed on July 29th this year. This was about the last one from a small colony I saw this year, so it's somewhat tatty-looking:

I saw this butterfly flying along at the top of Swansea Beach, on July 29th this year, frequently living up to its name by perching on the seawall, and occasionally dropping down to feed on nearby flowers:
