I've done very little photography of late, but here's a video of some Goldfinches feeding on Teasels which I filmed with my Canon 7D last December. I tempted the Goldfinches down with some niger seeds placed in the Teasel seedheads:
You're lucky to have them in your garden, Gaenor. I had to put these teasels a mile or two from home where I'd seen some quite approachable Goldfinches.
That is an amazing coincidence as we've been to Rhuddlan Nature reserve today and brought back some teasel heads and did exactly the same thing to tempt the goldfinches to land on them for some better photo shots - I thought it was a great idea of mine but you obviously thought of it way before I did!
Hi Sharon, I think I got the idea from Simon King a few years ago.His suggestion was to use poppy seeds, but they didn't work, so I tried niger, which worked like a charm, so to speak!
Excellent. Damn wind there is always something to spoil things.
ReplyDeleteHi Adrian, I quite like the wind here as it gives a bit of movement and makes the video more interesting. Bugger for photos, though!
DeleteBeautiful Jeremy. Thanks for sharing.
